Over a year ago, to the first-called ministerial search committee, Rev.
Lee Devoe mentioned that some of her colleagues-in-search had already
driven by Winthrop Street, but hadn't stopped. She relayed that these
preachers were so disappointed in our building's appearance -- they
figured what you saw on the outside likely mirrored that which lay
inside -- that they didn't even get out. She described one of the
hurdles in our search for a new minister; like we didn't know then!
Fast forward 13 months and the obstacles are fewer thanks to Wick
Johnson and the others who spearheaded this summer's renovations. The
broad entryway, the naturally lit sanctuary, our windows to the sky,
and the freshened exterior are a search committee's dream. Add to it
how Andy Fisk, Wayne Ladner, and the other volunteers turned 71
Winthrop Street into a warm, clean, and efficient new home for offices
and classes. We will soon proudly tour prospective ministers through
these worship and work spaces, which one will soon call home. Our
search is now easier and the probability of finding a wonderful match
much more likely. Thank you. -- Harold
PS -- The survey is now officially closed. The total number of surveys submitted was 140. Thank you all for making the survey process a big success!
